WELCOME TO FOSTER CARE EXPERIENCES SITE

Looked After Children and Young People can be amongst the most damaged, hurt and vulnerable members of our society.

Foster Care, at its best, can provide these children and young people with an opportunity of a new and better life, alongside a chance to start healing some of the old wounds.

This site is dedicated to the sharing of Foster Care experiences. These experiences are shared from diverse sources in an attempt to provide valuable information from as many perspectives as is possible.

All these experiences are real. They reveal very powerful real life stories of joy, pain, sadness, hope, cruelty and success. The ultimate aim of this site is that it will offer insights into this much ignored area of Social Care and we hope that the quality of Foster Care offered to children and young people will continue to improve.

We also hope that many people from a variety of backgrounds can learn something from these shared experiences, and we hope to encourage the sharing of even more. This site could be of benefit to many individuals; new and established Foster Carers, Social Workers, children and young people in the care system, Family Court professionals, researchers, policy makers etc.

The content of some of these experiences will no-doubt disturb or upset some readers. However, if readers are moved to a greater committment to providing the best quality of care that is possible - then this site has achieved its goal.

The experiences shared are presented in many forms - narrative, prose, poetry, etc. A reader is sure to find experiences that resonate on a personal or professional level.

If you have experiences to share, then please please contribute - you will be helping to create something very special and unique.

All steps are taked to ensure that individuals cannot be identified.

Some of these experiences are not suitable for individuals under the age of 18.

Please open your hearts and minds to these Foster Care Experiences and please contribute to this site.

A huge thank you to all those who have already contributed!
